Men return to storied CT running event intent on moving on from abusive past

The last time John Fitterer ran the Litchfield Hills Road Race, he was in middle school.
Back then, he was a member of the Litchfield Track Club and understood how much the race meant to the town. He still remembers the thrill of hearing his name announced as he raced down Main Street toward the finish line of the annual 7.1-mile event.
Now 50, Fitterer is returning to an iconic race that has drawn thousands of elite runners over the years.
